They say you can’t go back in time, but Time Warp 1957 defies the odds by transporting audiences back to a recording studio of September 1957 where performers are auditioning to win a recording contract with Time Warp Records.
The one-night-only show will rock-and-roll at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 10 at the Hancock Performing Arts Center in Hancock Town Hall.
Singers and musicians from Berkeley Springs and Hancock will perform all sorts of songs from the late 1950s – from rockabilly and doowop to country ballads and bluesy instrumentals.
Among those on the bill are Jim Fredo, Gordon MacLeod, Iona McDaniel, Sinclair Hamilton, Vince Romano, Mike Kligerman, Bob and Dale Wurster, Dan Fleming, Larry Springer, Evy Caperton and The Shifters.
“Folks who weren’t around in those days can learn what it was all about, and those who were around, will probably recall every song,” said John Douglas, who concocted the scenario.
Douglas and co-producer Mike Kligerman put on the Hank Williams, Woody Guthrie and 1960s Folk Music programs for the Hancock Arts Council in recent years.
“Time Warp 1957” is free to the public. Doors will open at 7 p.m. on show night. For more information, call 717-294- 3182.
