The winter of 2014 has claimed another victim — the Johnsons Mill Bridge in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia.
The West Virginia Department of Highways announced today that the bridge will be closed until further notice for repair.
A Department spokesperson said that ice had “damaged the edge of the bridge, had torn away part of the back” and that “it’s unsafe for vehicles to use right now.”
“It will be out until we can get it fixed,” the spokesperson said.
The bridge has been closed for a couple of weeks — and it might be closed for another couple of weeks while repair crews do their work. But it could be more than a couple of weeks if the weather stays bad.
The main detour around the bridge will be Highland Ridge Road.
