Saira Blair (R-59), an undergraduate student at West Virginia University, will not be running for re-election to the West Virginia House of Delegates.
Blair represents citizens in Morgan and Berkeley counties.
“I’m not running,” Blair said on Talk Radio WRNR this morning. “This the first time I’ve talked about it. I intend to go to graduate school after WVU and I just didn’t think that it would be appropriate for me to attend grad school out of our state and continue to serve in the legislature. I didn’t think that my constituents would really appreciate that.”
“If I had someone representing me, I would want them to be spending more time in the district than trying to balance something like that.”
Blair says she intends to get her MBA in finance at an out of state school.
“That’s a long way off,” she said.
Former Delegate Larry Kump (R) last week announced that he would be running to retake the seat now being vacated by Blair.
