Polling shows Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton neck and neck in national polls as they round the turn into the homestretch.
In West Virginia, Trump is crushing Clinton 49 percent to 31 percent.
Bob Ford says he knows why.
Ford is a Morgan County Commissioner in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia.
And the only elected official in Morgan County openly supporting Trump.
(Ford took out an ad in the Morgan Messenger this week that reads — “Trump Yard Signs — Call 304.261.8997″)
In Berkeley Springs, there are very few yard signs up for Hillary and only a smattering for Trump.
The Clinton supporters are playing duck and cover in West Virginia — a state that despises her, even among Democrats. Bernie Sanders clobbered her in the primary earlier this year — 51 percent to 36 percent.
And even though Sanders has endorsed Clinton, many of Sanders’ supporters are either going to sit it out or vote third party — either for Green Party candidate Jill Stein or Libertarian Gary Johnson.
They see Trump and Clinton as two heads of a corporate oligarchy — both willing to play dirty to further their corporate interests.
Many mention the famous picture of the Trumps and the Clintons partying together at one of Trump’s weddings.
On the other side of the aisle, Republican Ford thinks the polls underestimate Trump’s support because so few Trump supporters are willing to admit that they like the guy and will probably vote for him.
Ford has no hesitation.
This week, he took to his Facebook page and laid out his case for Trump.
Ford portrays Trump as an anti-elite populist who will protect the average working guy.
“Trump believes we should be energy independent,” Ford writes.
Ford then rips into the Democrat and Republican elites who support the brutal regime in Saudi Arabia.
“They call themselves the Royal Family ha, when they come to America to meet with the elitists they make deals with, they hole up in their Washington DC penthouses have their meetings, after the meetings they remove rags and robes put on their speedos and thongs, brake (sic) out the liquor, bring in the elite DC prostitutes and the party begins. The next day they put on their rags and robes and fly back to their so called Saudi Kingdom, laughing all the way home. Both Bush Presidents have has covered their ass every time they needed to. Ask why? . . . Do you honestly believe the Clintons would have done or will do anything different with their connections with the Saudi Thugs after they received over $25 million dollars from them, give me a break. These Saudis are barbaric thugs. . . . Hussein Obama has continued the same practices, what else would you expect out of a Muslim sympathizer.”
He says that Trump “believes in fair trade, not free trade.”
“There is no way we can continue down the path of an $800 billion trade deficit as acceptable,” Ford writes. “Ross Perot cautioned us about NAFTA that if it was to pass, you will hear a giant sucking sound of our manufacturing base and jobs going to Mexico. Man was he right. Ask yourself who started NAFTA, Bush 41 and Clinton passed it. Are you beginning to see the linkage? Clinton admires Bush 41 have spent quite a bit of time together.”
Ford says that the American people are “tired of being shit on, tired of being looked down on.”
Ford says that Trump will be elected and he is not worried about the outcome of the election.
“We just pray nothing bad happens to him,” Ford says.
