People know Larry Springer as the director at the Morgan County Library.
They know him as the trumpet player in a number of bands around town.
What they probably don’t know about Larry Springer is that he is a playwright.
Some thirty years ago, Larry Springer wrote Rocking Chairs, a play about elderly people who feel trapped in a nursing home and are looking for escape.
And this weekend, Rocking Chairs will make its debut as a staged reading at the Ice House in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia.
The play is being produced and directed by Abbie Brown.
Rocking Chairs stars Ron Tebben as the Colonel, Rick Vance as MacIntosh, Jan Weinberg as Mary Ann, Sharon Carpenter as the nurse, Tim Smailes as Martin, and Russell Mokhiber as the janitor.
There will be three shows — Friday June 6 at 7:30 pm, Saturday June 7 at 7:30 pm and Sunday June 8 at 2 p.m.
Tickets are $5.00 at the door.
