Plant a Tiny Forest in Berkeley Springs Saturday April 27

In honor of Arbor Day, the Warm Springs Watershed Association and the Bath Tree Board are joining hands on Saturday, April 27 from 10:00 am to noon to plant a tiny forest at the Berkeley Springs Depot.

The tiny forest will be dedicated to Gale Foulds in recognition of the impact she made on our community. (See Gale Founds of Berkeley Springs 1940 to 2024, Morgan County USA, March 26, 2024.)

Volunteers who help plant trees will receive a custom designed, cardinal red t-shirt. Gloves and tools will be furnished.

The eastern section of the former rail yard is being cleaned up using natural soil building and habitat restoration. The planting will help continue the remediation of the area.

The tiny forest is the first planting for this area. Later in the year, more native shrubs and wildflowers will be planted at the site.

Representatives of the West Virginia Division of Forestry will join Town of Bath officials to celebrate the 16-year recognition of Bath as a Tree City USA.

The mayor of Bath will read the Arbor Day Proclamation.

Light refreshments will be served, and the Depot will be open for tours.
