The Lions Club tonight honored the top ten Berkeley Springs High School Seniors in a ceremony at The Country Inn.
The top ten graduating seniors and schools they will be attending are: Toni Davidson (Seton Hill), Jessica Graham (West Virginia University) , Dakota Maravelis (Bethany College), Monica McBee (Gordon College), Logan McKee (West Point), Tyler Miller (West Virginia University), Zane Mokhiber (Cornell University), Kelsey Weimer (Dartmouth College), Zachary White (Johns Hopkins University), and Rachel Wurster (West Liberty University).
The Lions Club was founded in 1917 in Chicago, Illinois by Melvin Jones.
In creating the organization, Jones asked: “What if these men who are successful because of their drive, intelligence and ambition, were to put their talents to work improving their communities?”
Jones’ personal code was: “You can’t get very far until you start doing something for somebody else.”
The Lions Club’s slogan is – Liberty, Intelligence, Our Nation’s Safety.
The Lions Club’s motto is – We Serve.
In Berkeley Springs, the Lions Club engages in a wide range of activities, including providing eye exams, glass and hearing aids, serving meals at the Mealtime Kitchen, funding student exchange programs, Christmas cards for soldiers and the peace poster contest.
