Brenda Hutchinson’s first radio ad takes aim at Potomac Edison’s proposed 17.2 percent rate hike.
Hutchinson is running to unseat Republican Daryl Cowles in the West Virginia House of Delegates (District 58 — Morgan and Hampshire counties.). Cowles is the House minority whip. There is no Democrat in the race.
Cowles received $1,000 in 2014 and $1,000 in 2012 from the FirstEnergy political action committee. Potomac Edison is a unit of FirstEnergy.
“Potomac Edison wants to raise your electricity bill by 17.2 percent,” Hutchinson says. “I can’t afford that. And thousands of my fellow citizens in Morgan and Hampshire counties can’t afford that.”
“And everywhere I go, I am met with an outpouring of opposition to this proposed rate hike,” Hutchinson says in the ad. “Earlier this month, I joined many other of my fellow citizens before the Public Service Commission and urged the Commission to reject Potomac Edison’s rate hike.”
“On November 4, vote for a voice independent of the big utility companies,” Hutchinson says. “Vote Brenda Hutchinson for House of Delegates.”
