Carl M. Freeman company has hired a West Virginia lumber company to take out about 2,500 to 3,000 trees from the northern 200 acres of the 1,000 acre Coolfont property in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia.
Freeman has hired Allegheny Wood Products of Petersburg, West Virginia to do the work.
Freeman West Virginia manager Bob Marggraf said that about 12 to 16 trees per acre will be thinned out of the 200 acres.
Marggraf said that many of the larger trees are dying and some some have fallen.
This prompted Freeman to contact the West Virginia Division of Forestry.
The Division of Forestry referred Freeman to a certified forester who subsequently consulted on the project, Marggraf said.
The trees that will be cut have already been marked by the forester, who will manage the effort. Marggraf said. The work will begin sometime in the near future.
The Coolfont property is for sale for $9.5 million.
