Mike Law was a homeopath.
His wife Vicky worked for years at Shepherd University. They were both active in the community, in recent years joining the protest against the gas pipeline that was built through Morgan County.

But they couldn’t be pigeonholed politically.
Mike’s last post on his Facebook page was on July 18 at 12:40 pm.
It was an anti-war message.
In referring to the war in Ukraine, Mike wrote:
“Biden is definitely getting us into a bad situation. He needs to resign.”
Mike and Vicky were music lovers. They enjoyed attending music festivals in the area, including at the Sleepy Creek campground. One of their favorite bands was The Brokedown Hustlers.
For a couple of years, both Vicky and Mike worked at Mock’s Greenhouse in Berkeley Springs.
Late last year, Vicky got Covid and she suffered a stroke.
Mike became her primary caregiver.
In recent months, friends of the Laws were taking to GoFundMe to raise money for Vicky’s speech therapy.
Vicky passed away last week and Mike reportedly ended his life.
A press release from the Morgan County Sheriff put it this way:
“On Friday July 29, 2022 at about 6 pm, Deputy Burkholder and Lt. Place responded to a residence on Route 9 in Hedgesville for a death investigation.”
“Two deceased subjects were found inside the home.”
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the female most likely died from natural causes and the male from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.”
“The two deceased subjects were spouses.”
“Medical Examiner Michael Barrett responded to take charge of the decedents that will be taken to the office of the State Medical Examiner for post mortem examinations.”
Just last month, the national suicide prevention hotline change from an 800 number to a simple three digit number – 988.
The change is expected to bring in millions of more calls and save lives.
