NFL Training Camp Coming to the Greenbrier, Kercheval Reports

Radio talk show host Hoppy Kercheval says an NFL training camp is coming to the Greenbrier Resorts in White Sulfur Springs, West Viriginia.

Kercheval said that he doesn’t know which NFL team it is, but it will be a plus for West Virginia because it will enhance tourism in the state.

The Greenbrier is owned by West Virginia’s only billionaire, Jim Justice.

Democratic Party chairman Larry Puccio, a lobbyist for Justice and the Greenbrier, recently pushed through the West Virginia legislature a $25 million tax break for a medical facility at the Greenbrier.

And it was the Republicans sounding like populists.

Senator Clark Barnes, R-Randolph, told the Associated Press that West Virgnia shouldn’t be focusing on breaks for a businessman worth $1.6 billion, who ranks 362nd on Forbes magazine’s list of the country’s wealthiest people.

“We’ve struggled on the minimum wage issue to give our lowest wage earners a few cents on the dollar,” said Barnes. “And then we turn around and give one of West Virginia’s wealthiest citizens a huge, multimillion-dollar tax break.”
