Morgan County EMS and Morgan County Sheriff deputies responded to the call at about 5:23 pm.

Staff at the park noticed that the patron had gone over his time period in the baths and went to check on him.

They found the 68-year old male unresponsive and called Morgan County EMS.

EMS transported the person to War Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The deceased will be sent to the office of the Chief Medical Officer for a post mortem.

(Update December 17, 2021: Morgan County Sheriff KC Bohrer said that the deceased has been identified as William Kelly of Woodbridge, Virginia. Next of kin have been notified. “It’s suspected that he suffered a medical emergency while in the Roman Baths,” Bohrer said. “It is undetermined whether he died from the medical condition or the condition caused him to drown.”)
