The number of total confirmed Morgan County Covid cases now stands at 534 with eight deaths.
This week, state health officials reported five additional Morgan County Covid deaths, including a 72-year-old male, a 70-year-old male, an 87-year-old male and a 74-year-old female – taking the death total from three to eight.
“This is an incredibly difficult time for the families and friends of these West Virginians, especially during the holiday season,” said Bill J. Crouch, the Secretary of the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources. “We offer our sympathies to each and every person connected to these individuals.”
In addition to the 534 confirmed cases and eight deaths, Morgan County saw an infection rate (number of new cases per 100,000) in recent days of over 60 and a percent positivity rate (number of confirmed lab tests that are positive) of over 10 percent. Those numbers put Morgan County in the red again, which means that Morgan County schools will not be open for in person instruction this week.
