Four candidates have thrown their hats in the ring to take the place of Ken Reed on the Morgan County Commission.
Reed was elected last month to the House of Delegates and resigned last week as Commissioner.
The four candidates who are being considered for the job are Bill Clark, Jason Didawick, G.W. Easton, and Wayne Sanderson.
The Commission accepted letters of interest through Monday, December 7.
Clark is the executive director of the Eastern Panhandle Regional Planning and Development Council. Easton is the general manager at Douglas Auto Sales.
Commissioners Joel Tuttle and Sean Forney will interview the candidates and then meet at the next Commission meeting, December 16 at 9:30 a.m. to decide who will be the next commissioner.
Under state law (West Virginia Code 3-10-7), if Forney and Tuttle can’t agree on the next commissioner, then the executive committee of the Republican Party in Morgan County will come up with a list of three candidates and present them to the commission.
If Tuttle and Forney still can’t agree on which of those three candidates will be the new commissioner, then Tuttle will eliminate one of the three names from the list, Forney will eliminate one of the remaining two names on the list, and the last standing candidate will become commissioner.
The new commissioner will serve until December 31, 2022.
