Drug Bust at Snyder’s Bible Chapel in Berkeley Springs

A Morgan County man was arrested for possession of approximately twelve grams of suspected heroin on the property of a church on Route 9 in Berkeley Springs.

Jonathan A. Zimmerman, 28, of 11111 Martinsburg Road was arrested on the property of Snyder’s Bible Chapel.

Officers were called to the Martinsburg Road address yesterday for a disturbance that resulted in Captain Tim Stapleton arresting Zimmerman’s wife, Audrey, for obstructing an officer.

No illegal drugs were found at the time of her arrest but drug paraphernalia was located.

Jonathan Zimmerman had fled prior to deputies arriving.

Officers were called back to the home early this morning for another reported disturbance and once again Jonathan Zimmerman fled.

Later a caller notified the sheriff’s department that they had seen a man matching Zimmerman’s description getting into a church van at Snyder’s Bible Chapel.

Chief Deputy John Walter and Sheriff K.C. Bohrer responded.

Zimmerman was found in the back of the church van injecting a syringe into his arm.

Zimmerman was arrested.

An investigation revealed Zimmerman to have drug paraphernalia, individually wrapped containers of a brown chunky substance – which later field tested positive for heroin.

Chief Walter charged Zimmerman with one count of possession with intent to deliver heroin.

Subsequent checking revealed Zimmerman to be out on bond from Jefferson County on felony charges.

Sheriff KC Bohrer spoke with the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office who advised they would be revoking Zimmerman’s prior bond.

Zimmerman was also served with a family protection order while in custody.

Zimmerman was arraigned before Magistrate Debra Ditto and held in lieu of a $15,000 bond.
