The Morgan County Planning Commission tonight gave the green light to a developer’s plans to build a Tractor Supply store four miles south of Berkeley Springs on US 522.
The vote was unanimous in favor. (Wayne Omps abstained.)
The application was submitted by Legend Realty Services — which will own the building and lease it to Tractor Supply.
Legend Realty president David Howicz attended the meeting.
In an interview after the meeting, Howicz said that he anticipated that financing for the project would be secured within a couple of weeks and that construction will begin soon thereafter.
General contractors have bid on the project and Howicz said he anticipated that many local contractors will be hired to help build the building.
Howicz said that he hoped the building will be up by the end of the summer and suggested that the Tractor Supply will be open by the spring of 2017.
There are more than 1,400 Tractor Supply stores in the United States and more than 120 are being opened every year.
