{"id":957,"date":"2014-04-29T18:16:21","date_gmt":"2014-04-29T22:16:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/?p=957"},"modified":"2014-04-29T18:16:21","modified_gmt":"2014-04-29T22:16:21","slug":"potomac-edison-power-outage-knocks-out-2200-customers-in-morgan-county","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/?p=957","title":{"rendered":"Potomac Edison Power Outage Knocks Out 2,200 Customers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A major power outage has left 2,271 out of 11,294 customers in Morgan County, West Virginia without electricity.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s according to Potomac Edison spokeswoman Charlene Gilliam.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/potomac-edison.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-956\" title=\"potomac edison\" src=\"https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/potomac-edison.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"394\" height=\"222\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In Berkeley Springs, Food Lion was dark. McDonald\u2019s dark. Everything from there south &#8212; dark.<\/p>\n<p>Gilliam said that a crossbeam &#8212; that\u2019s the horizontal piece at the top of an electricity pole &#8212; on US 522 broke. And when it broke, lines fell onto other lines triggering a reaction that led to a full circuit lockout at the South Berkeley Circuit of the Morgan Substation at the intersection of Waugh Road and Johnson&#8217;s Mill Road, Gilliam said.<\/p>\n<p>Gilliam said she did not know what caused the crossarm to break.<\/p>\n<p>Gilliam said electricity went out at 3:23 pm.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWorkcrews on are site and we estimate that power will be restored at 6:30 pm,\u201d Gilliam said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A major power outage has left 2,271 out of 11,294 customers in Morgan County, West Virginia without electricity.
