<\/a><\/p>\nAnd just last week, they put up four large blazing yellow billboards — two on Rt. 9 and two on US 522 — that say \u201cVote Against the Levies, Save Tax $.\u201d<\/p>\n
Last month, Jeannie Ford, wife of Morgan County Commissioner Bob Ford, and leader of the group Citizens Against the Levy<\/a>, finally agreed to engage in two way communications. (Bob Ford was against the levy last year<\/a> when it went down to defeat 56 percent (1,672) to 44 percent (1,323).)<\/p>\n Jeannie Ford agreed to a debate someone from the pro-levy group.<\/p>\n The South Morgan Fire Hall was secured for April 2 at 7 pm.<\/p>\n The debate would be sponsored by Morgan County USA.<\/p>\n The pro-levy group, Morgan County Citizens for Successful Schools<\/a>, put up local attorney Margaret Gordon to debate Ford.<\/p>\n Then, earlier this week, Ford started to back out.<\/p>\n Ford started out saying that the reason should couldn\u2019t debate was she was too busy running her business, Bob\u2019s Big Beef.<\/p>\n \u201cI can\u2019t do it in April,\u201d Ford said. \u201cI\u2019m busy as hell come April 1. I\u2019ve got a lot of caterings here in April.\u201d<\/p>\n Ford then said she will try and see if anyone else in her group will debate.<\/p>\n She calls back.<\/p>\n \u201cNobody wants to debate,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n Ford said she checked with Eric Pritchard and he wouldn\u2019t do it.<\/p>\n Ford said she checked with Frieda Ickes and \u201cshe\u2019s not that excited about it.\u201d<\/p>\n What about Brooks McCumbee?<\/p>\n \u201cNo, I don\u2019t want Brooks doing it,\u201d Ford said.<\/p>\n Will your husband, Commissioner Bob Ford, debate?<\/p>\n \u201cNo, he don\u2019t want nothing to do with the levy,\u201d Jeannie Ford says.<\/p>\n Why did Jeannie Ford agree to a debate and then back out?<\/p>\n As it turns out, it wasn\u2019t just about her busy schedule running Bob\u2019s Big Beef.<\/p>\n \u201cI would debate if it would have been with a school board member,\u201d Ford finally says. \u201cBut I\u2019m not doing it with Margaret Gordon. Absolutely not.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m not going to debate Margaret Gordon,\u201d Ford says. \u201cWhat does she know?\u201d<\/p>\n Well, Margaret Gordon is with the pro-levy group, and the group said she is the person who will debate.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t care about her group,\u201d Ford says. \u201cI care about somebody who knows answers. Every time I go to the school board and ask for answers, they don\u2019t know nothing.\u201d<\/p>\n Well, then why will they know something during the debate?<\/p>\n After a few minutes, it\u2019s clear that Ford\u2019s answer that she\u2019s too busy with Bob\u2019s Big Beef doesn\u2019t hold water.<\/p>\n She just doesn\u2019t want to debate Margaret Gordon.<\/p>\n \u201cI will debate somebody from the school board,\u201d Ford says matter of factly.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The anti levy group in Berkeley Springs knows one way communication.
