{"id":6226,"date":"2025-09-09T14:16:04","date_gmt":"2025-09-09T18:16:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/?p=6226"},"modified":"2025-09-09T14:17:59","modified_gmt":"2025-09-09T18:17:59","slug":"riley-moore-says-he-voted-to-release-the-epstein-files-thomas-massie-says-what-moore-voted-for-wont-do-anything","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/?p=6226","title":{"rendered":"Riley Moore Says He Voted to Release the Epstein Files \u2013 Thomas Massie Says What Moore Voted for Won\u2019t Do Anything"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Congressman Riley Moore (R-West Virginia) put out a press release last week titled \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/rileymoore.house.gov\/media\/press-releases\/congressman-moore-votes-release-epstein-files\">Congressman Moore Votes to Release Epstein Files.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"480\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/moore.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6227\" style=\"width:224px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/moore.jpg 480w, https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/moore-240x300.jpg 240w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Congressman Riley Moore<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>One problem \u2013 he didn\u2019t actually vote to release the key Epstein files at the center of a firestorm in Congress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Instead, Moore voted for a \u201cfraud\u201d and a \u201cplacebo\u201d \u2013 those the words of fellow MAGA Republican Thomas Massie (R-Kentucky) who is leading the effort to get 218 signatures on a discharge petition that would force a vote on the floor of the House to release the Epstein files controlled by the Department of Justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Moore\u2019s press release misled his constituents and even major news outlets. <em>Politico<\/em> reporters were forced to<a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/live-updates\/2025\/09\/02\/congress\/epstein-files-dc-crime-shutdown-funding-deadline-00539289\"> run a correction to an article on the Epstein files.<\/a> (The Politico correction on September 2, 2025 read: An earlier version of this story misstated Rep. Riley Moore&#8217;s support for a discharge petition to force a vote on a resolution to release the Jeffrey Epstein files.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But by putting out his press release and mailing it to constituents throughout the district, Moore appeased his MAGA base, the majority of whom want all the information released and let the chips fall where they may.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Moore did vote for House Resolution 668 put forth by the House Republican leadership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But Massie told reporters outside the Capitol that the resolution \u201cdoes absolutely nothing.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Speaker of the House just offered a fig leaf to my colleagues,\u201d Massie said.. \u201cThey\u2019re gonna vote on a non-binding resolution today that does absolutely nothing. I appreciate the efforts of my colleague James Comer, who\u2019s leading the Oversight Committee. They may find some information, but they\u2019re allowing the Department of Justice to curate all of the information that the Department is giving them. If you\u2019ve looked at the pages they\u2019ve released so far, they\u2019re heavily redacted.
