{"id":6009,"date":"2024-07-02T15:20:41","date_gmt":"2024-07-02T19:20:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/?p=6009"},"modified":"2024-07-02T16:03:19","modified_gmt":"2024-07-02T20:03:19","slug":"michael-robert-pushkin-of-berkeley-springs-1947-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/?p=6009","title":{"rendered":"Michael Robert Pushkin of Berkeley Springs 1947-2024\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Michael Pushkin was born on September 29,1947 in the Bronx, New York.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/puskin.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"240\" height=\"320\" src=\"https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/puskin.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6010\" srcset=\"https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/puskin.jpg 240w, https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/puskin-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 240px) 100vw, 240px\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Michael Pushkin<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>He went to the Bronx High School of Science and then to Hunter College, where he received a degree in Psychology.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He enjoyed a winter in Minnesota followed by a brief time in Berkeley, California.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He then moved to upstate New York where he enhanced his leather skills and started Tinker Hill Leather.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Michael moved to Berkeley Springs in 1976 and became a member of the arts community. He was an active member of Morgan Arts Community and later he became a founding member of the Ice House Gallery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the 1980\u2019s Michael connected with the fashion movement in New York.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Several years later he began working with metallic and embossed leather, designing high fashion bags and clothing.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Michael traveled throughout the country selling his artwork at craft shows and in galleries until 1997 when he began studying massage therapy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Michael was an extraordinary healing massage therapist who offered pain relief to clients for the past twenty-five years.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His Able Body Wellness office was filled with art and great music.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He had a vast array of techniques which included orthopedic massage, alignment, adjustments, myofascial release, and craniosacral therapy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Michael had many passions including&nbsp; Tai Chi.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He practiced Tai Chi for thirty years and taught classes at Coolfont and then at the Ice House in Berkeley Springs.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Michael loved music, especially jazz. This passion developed in the Village in New York during his late teens and continued throughout his life.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1986 Michael\u2019s love of music lead him to exhibit his leather at a craft show during the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. This was followed by thirty years of dedicated festival attendance.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Michael\u2019s time in New Orleans deepened his appreciation of varied cuisine. He was a wonderful chef and quite the culinary researcher.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Michael loved to travel, he enjoyed nature and was always up for a hike.
