The proprietor, Ted Martin, worked in construction in the Baltimore area, owns land in Great Cacapon and plans on building a home there. Martin purchased the Congress Street building from Gale and Gareth Foulds and teamed up with a bar owner in Raleigh, North Carolina, where there is a similar Cardinal Bar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Cardinal Bar will have two rooms \u2013 a traditional bar room and a game room with maybe a pool table and pin ball machines. <\/p>\n\n\n
<\/a>The food menu? <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hot dogs and chips.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The hours? <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hold on to your hat. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
12 noon to 2 am, seven days a week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Across the street, the beautifully renovated old Creekside Creamery has been transformed into an vacation rental on the top floor \u2013 now called the Dowtown Flat at Creekside.<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n The owners \u2013 Sam and Jeff Duval <\/a>\u2013 are planning a deli on the ground floor.<\/p>\n\n\n “It’s now called Creekside Provisions + Supplies,” said Sam Duval. “We are still hammering through the details at the moment, and finishing out the build. The concept centers around all the ‘essential-ish’ goods to enjoy life in the woods — fresh baked bread and treats, craft beer and wine (to go), specialty coffee\/tea\/food items, and curated merchandise. Menu items will feature a few smoothies to start — and progressing into salads and soups in time. We’d like to be vending as much local stuff as possible. We also have an intimate gallery space in the back that will feature rotating artists and local works.
