{"id":5012,"date":"2021-01-26T17:38:16","date_gmt":"2021-01-26T22:38:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/?p=5012"},"modified":"2021-01-26T18:01:37","modified_gmt":"2021-01-26T23:01:37","slug":"the-five-magisterial-districts-of-morgan-county","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/?p=5012","title":{"rendered":"The Five Magisterial Districts of Morgan County"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Last week, we covered <a href=\"https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/?p=4992\">Morgan County\u2019s thirteen voting precincts.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, we cover Morgan County\u2019s five magisterial districts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Morgan.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"622\" src=\"https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Morgan-1024x622.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5015\" srcset=\"https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Morgan-1024x622.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Morgan-300x182.jpg 300w, https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Morgan-768x466.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>West Virginia is only one of two states \u2013 the other being Virginia \u2013 that have magisterial districts as civil subdivisions within the counties.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The five magisterial districts in Morgan County are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Magisterial District 1\u2013&nbsp; West (voting precincts 6, 13 and 18),<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Magisterial District 2 \u2013 Central (voting precincts 4, 5, 7 and 21)&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Magisterial District 3 \u2013 East (voting precincts 1 and 23)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Magisterial District 4 \u2013 North (voting precincts 2 and 8)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Magisterial District 5 \u2013 South (voting precincts 24 and 25)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Morgan County has three County Commissioners \u2013 Bill Clark, Joel Tuttle and Sean Forney.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No two county commissioners can be from the same magisterial district.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Clark is from District 4, Tuttle is from District 2 and Forney is from District 3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When Clark is up for election in 2022, candidates cannot come from District 2 or 3 \u2013 because if they win, there would be two county commissioners from that district.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2022, only candidates from Districts 1, 4 and 5 can run for county commissioner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If Clark wins \u2013 and he will be the favorite going in \u2013 then in 2024 when Forney is up for re-election, only candidates from Districts 1, 3 and 5 can run.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tuttle is up for re-election in 2026.<br><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last week, we covered Morgan County\u2019s thirteen voting precincts.
