{"id":4421,"date":"2020-04-06T15:07:43","date_gmt":"2020-04-06T19:07:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/?p=4421"},"modified":"2020-04-06T15:32:08","modified_gmt":"2020-04-06T19:32:08","slug":"teacher-storme-frame-challenges-rockwools-paul-espinosa-for-house-of-delegates-seat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/?p=4421","title":{"rendered":"Teacher Storme Frame Challenges Rockwool\u2019s Paul Espinosa for House of Delegates Seat"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Jefferson County public school teacher Storme Frame will be facing off against former Frontier general manager, current Rockwool spokesperson and House of Delegate\u2019s member Paul Espinosa (R-66) in the November election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Storme Frame, Candidate, WV House of Delegates 66th District\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/GtE1BAuxY9s?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2018, in two other Jefferson County districts, Sammi Brown (D-65) and John Doyle (D-67) won their elections on a wave of protest against Rockwool\u2019s plans to build a heavy industrial facility in the middle of Jefferson County, West Virginia, a rural bedroom community less than 70 miles from Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brown defeated Jill Upson (53 percent to 47 percent) and Doyle defeated Riley Moore (56 percent to 44 percent).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Espinosa handily defeated his challenger David Dinges (58 percent to 42 percent), but that was before Espinosa was hired in July 2019 by Rockwool to be their spokesperson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On her web page, <a href=\"https:\/\/stormethehouse.com\/\">Storme The House<\/a>, Frame takes direct aim at Espinosa\u2019s corporate connections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s time for working families and children to be our focus and have their voices heard in our capital,\u201d Frame writes. \u201cIrresponsible corporations like Rockwool and Frontier won\u2019t like me very much, but they already have representation in Charleston. It\u2019s time the citizens were heard from the 66th. I\u2019m ready to be the megaphone for the people of our district.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t think somebody who represents an out of country corporation is going to go down to the House of Delegates and represent what the 18,000 people who live in his district want,\u201d Frame told <em>This Week in Morgan County <\/em>in an interview last month.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cRockwool is here. There wasn\u2019t enough transparency in our government prior. I don\u2019t think the due diligence was completed. Now we are this far in the process, it\u2019s important that our water is protected. There is a school right across the street from the plant. It\u2019s imperative that we fight to protect our air and water and I just don\u2019t think that he will. I don\u2019t think he will have our best interests at heart. He will have the company\u2019s best interests at heart.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Frame says that the 66th District is a more rural district than the others in Jefferson County and the people in her district are really worried about the quality of their water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThey are just worried that their water is going to be contaminated and they are not going to know. Nobody wants that. We\u2019ve seen Flint, Michigan. We don\u2019t want to be a Flint, Michigan. We just don\u2019t want that.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI was born and raised in Jefferson County,\u201d Frame said. \u201cIt means the world to me. I don\u2019t want to see people leaving Jefferson County because of heavy industry. Light industry is important. We need economic growth in Jefferson County. We need to better our broadband. I would like to look into community broadband. If we had good internet access, people could telecommute.
