Bohrer in May 12 Republican Primary"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Vince Shambaugh says that he wasn\u2019t planning on running for Sheriff of Morgan County, but that every time he made the trip into Berkeley Springs, people would stop him and say &#8212; you need to run for Sheriff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"This Week in Morgan County - Sheriff KC Bohrer, Morgan County WV\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/9d_8prSDqPU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI can\u2019t come to town without every other person asking me to come back out and run,\u201d Shambaugh told <em>This Week in Morgan County with Russell Mokhiber.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shambaugh was Morgan County Sheriff between 2008 and 2016.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Why do you think people are asking you to run again?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not going to bad mouth anybody,\u201d Shambaugh said. \u201cI\u2019m not going to run anybody down.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOn my record as Sheriff, there was a lot of good things we ended up doing. Indictments were off the charts, drug arrests were off the charts, we were bringing in piles of forfeiture money to better the community.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI want to run on what I was when I was Sheriff. I\u2019ve been in a uniform serving this community, serving this nation since pre-puberty, since Cub Scouts. I\u2019m a grassroots guy. You can only put so much lipstick on a pig. I\u2019m a blue collar working class guy like the majority of this community is.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"This Week in Morgan County - Vince Shambaugh, Candidate for Sheriff Morgan County WV\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/svJ6I2SzAfI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Sheriff Bohrer says he is running on his record of bringing down drug crime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe have reduced drug related crime in Morgan County,\u201d Bohrer told <em>This Week in Morgan County.<\/em> \u201cWe have taken out some major drug dealers. Drug overdoses are on the downswing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/?p=3902\">A year ago we interviewed you<\/a> and you said you were getting 10 to 12 overdose calls to your office a month.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How many calls a month are you getting now?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSome months we haven\u2019t even had any \u2013 they average maybe one a month,\u201d Sheriff Bohrer said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sheriff Bohrer oversaw the move of the Sheriff\u2019s office from downtown to behind the Food Lion and the conversion of the old Sheriff\u2019s office to the new 911 communications center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\tWhen Sheriff Bohrer won the election in 2016 for his first term, he ran on \u201cprofessionalism, accountability and communication.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur staff has attained all of the goals, but there is more work to be done,\u201d Sheriff Bohrer said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sheriff Bohrer and Shambaugh will face off in the Republican primary May 12. Republicans and independents can vote in that primary.
