The Hancock Civil War String Band places songs of the Civil War within an historical narrative that takes you on a musical tour of the conflict.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve have created a narrative that tells the story from before the start of the Civil War, about slavery, Lincoln\u2019s statements about what\u2019s going to happen in the future, his election, the conduct of the war and the effects of the war,\u201d said Sinclair Hamilton, chairman of the Hancock Arts Council.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith a letter from Clara Barton or an interesting story from a soldier we show how these Civil War songs still have meaning today\u201d Hamilton said. \u201cThe group performs with accordion, banjo, guitars, fiddles and string bass. Melodic four part vocal harmonies bring to life the poetic lyrics of this very musical war.\u201d<\/p>\n
