{"id":3865,"date":"2018-12-12T05:50:08","date_gmt":"2018-12-12T10:50:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/?p=3865"},"modified":"2018-12-12T08:26:28","modified_gmt":"2018-12-12T13:26:28","slug":"scott-fortney-on-the-new-lodge-at-cacacpon-state-park","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/?p=3865","title":{"rendered":"Scott Fortney on the New Lodge at Cacacpon State Park"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Construction has begun on the new 78 room lodge at Cacapon State Park in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia.<\/p>\n<p>The new lodge will open in December 2019, at which time the 48 room old lodge will be closed for renovation. The old lodge will then reopen in October 2020.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/2dfXy4-9Qto\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s according to Scott Fortney, the superintendent at Cacapon State Park and Berkeley Springs State Park.<\/p>\n<p>The new lodge will have an indoor pool, dining area, a fitness center, lounge and spa.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re going to be looking to hire quite a few people,\u201d Fortney told Russell Mokhiber of This Week in Morgan County.<\/p>\n<p>Cacapon is a hub of activity this holiday season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s great place to bring your family, great place to relax,\u201d Fortney said. \u201cYou can step into nature but still have modern conveniences.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cacapon also has 31 cabins \u2013 13 of which are open all year around.<\/p>\n<p>Plus there is the Historic Old Inn, which sleeps 32. The Old Inn underwent a $500,000 renovation just a couple of years ago.<\/p>\n<p>Cacapon State Park draws half a million visitors a year with 85 percent of its visitors from surrounding cities \u2013 Baltimore, Washington and Pittsburgh.<\/p>\n<p>They come for golf, fishing, hiking, biking, horse riding, swimming \u2013 and just to be in the great outdoors.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/New-Years-2018-19-page0001.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-3864\" src=\"https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/New-Years-2018-19-page0001-232x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"232\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/New-Years-2018-19-page0001-232x300.jpg 232w, https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/New-Years-2018-19-page0001-768x994.jpg 768w, https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/New-Years-2018-19-page0001-791x1024.jpg 791w, https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/New-Years-2018-19-page0001.jpg 1275w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 232px) 100vw, 232px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This weekend, December 15 and 16, Cacapon will host a Christmas open house at the Old Inn, Christmas craft making, pictures with Santa, and an old fashioned Christmas sing-a-long.<\/p>\n<p>And on New Year\u2019s Eve, there will be a celebration at the Lodge with music by Adam Keeling.
