It\u2019s clear now that Delegate Mike Folk (R-Berkeley) is the driving force behind the lawsuit filed yesterday in the Supreme Court against candidate Tally Reed.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

The lawsuit alleges that Reed doesn\u2019t live in the 59th House of Delegates district that she seeks to represent.<\/span><\/p>\n

Folk will be on the ballot in November in the race against Senate Minority Leader John Unger (D-Berkeley).<\/span><\/p>\n

In the 59th District House of Delegates race, Folk is supporting Reed\u2019s Republican primary opponent former Delegate Larry Kump. <\/span><\/p>\n

Folk took to the airwaves today to detail the case against Reed.<\/span><\/p>\n

But toward the end of the interview with Rob Mario and David Welch on WRNR\u2019s Eastern Panhandle Talk<\/a>, Folk let loose on House Majority Leader Daryl Cowles (R-Morgan).<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt is unconscionable that someone through power, who lives in Morgan County, who happens to be the Majority Leader, can have such audacity to think that he can get away with this,\u201d Folk said.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cYou are pinning that on Daryl Cowles?\u201d Mario asked.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI think that Daryl Cowles recruited Tally Reed,\u201d Folk said.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis speaks to me to a fairly serious rift in the Eastern Panhandle between two groups of Republicans,\u201d Welch said.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI make no bones about it,\u201d Folk said. \u201cThere is a rift in the Republican caucus in the legislature. When we took control, I told Speaker Tim Armstead (R-Kanawha) if you choose that man (Cowles) to the leadership, you will have a problem in the future. And look where we are at today. Daryl Cowles \u2013 \u00a0if he has any aspirations to being Speaker \u2013 he will never be Speaker if I have anything to do with it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s more than a division,\u201d Mario said.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t stand dishonesty,\u201d Folk said. \u201cIf you see something say something.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThat kind of rhetoric doesn\u2019t seem to be the kind of rhetoric that will win you friends in your own party and I wonder if that weakens you in the general election against John Unger,\u201d Welch said.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI am concerned about only one thing in the general election,\u201d Folk responded. \u201cAnd that is the constituents that I will represent if I am elected. The party power people do not elect people.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cGeorge Washington warned many years ago that political parties could be the downfall of this country,\u201d Folk said. \u201cI believe he\u2019s right. We are at a precipice in this local area, this state, this country. People need to start voting for people and not parties. Principle over politics. I will live with a clear conscience. I don\u2019t need the party to win. I need people to win \u2013 the voters.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
