{"id":336,"date":"2012-09-26T23:11:04","date_gmt":"2012-09-27T03:11:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/?p=336"},"modified":"2012-09-26T23:11:04","modified_gmt":"2012-09-27T03:11:04","slug":"schweizer-not-backing-off-charge-against-capito","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/?p=336","title":{"rendered":"Schweizer Not Backing Off Charge Against Capito"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito (R-West Virginia) doesn\u2019t like the fact that Peter Schweizer included her in his book \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Throw-Them-All-Out-Politicians\/dp\/0547970161\/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1348715362&amp;sr=8-1&amp;keywords=throw+them+all+out\">Throw Them All Out.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The book is about the insider trading scandal in Congress.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/OhxyLy3fWXE\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Schweizer says that Capito sold Citigroup stock during the height of the financial crisis in 2008.<\/p>\n<p>When the book came out last year, Capito said she was \u201cinsulted\u201d at the suggestion that she would trade on information she was privy to as a member of the House Financial Services Committee.<\/p>\n<p>And earlier this month, Capito spokesperson <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wvmetronews.com\/index.cfm?func=displayfullstory&amp;storyid=54883&amp;type=\">Kent Gates said that Schweizer has since backed off the allegations<\/a> he made in his book against Capito.<\/p>\n<p>But earlier today, Schweizer told Morgan County USA that he\u2019s not backing off anything in his book and that he stands by his allegations against Capito.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t exactly know what a person was thinking when they made these trades,\u201d Schweizer said. \u201cBut the timing is very disconcerting and very troubling. The timing is the timing. That is not something I made up. That\u2019s based on the facts and the information. So no, I have not backed off at all on what I said in the book.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Any advice to the voters of the Second Congressional District of West Virginia?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou should look at your Congresswoman or your elected official, you should look at what their investments are, look at the timing of their trades,\u201d Schweizer said. \u201cWe should judge them based on what we see, not necessarily on what we are told.
