{"id":3198,"date":"2018-01-24T08:19:58","date_gmt":"2018-01-24T13:19:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/?p=3198"},"modified":"2018-01-24T08:25:40","modified_gmt":"2018-01-24T13:25:40","slug":"jeanne-mozier-weighs-in-on-bypass-brew-pub-coolfont-job-fair","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/?p=3198","title":{"rendered":"Jeanne Mozier Weighs in on Berkeley Springs Bypass Brew Pub Coolfont Job Fair"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Berkeley Springs Chamber of Commerce President Jeanne Mozier took to the airwaves yesterday morning to promote the first annual Morgan County Job Fair.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-3201\" src=\"https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/mozier.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"182\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mozier appeared on the <a href=\"https:\/\/soundcloud.com\/talkradiowrnr-705556938\/1-23-18-john-overington-jeanne-mozier-tom-willis-john-isner\">WRNR radio show Eastern Panhandle Talk<\/a> with Rob Mario and Dave Welch.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mario said Mozier is one of the show\u2019s favorite guests and introduced her as \u201cIvy League educated, CIA indoctrinated, Morgan County marinated Jeanne Mozier\u201d to the theme song of the television show \u201cI Dream of Jeannie.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Job Fair will be held on Thursday January 25 from 2 pm to 5 pm at Cacapon State Park. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Over thirty local employers will be interviewing job seekers. Mozier said the employers at Cacapon State Park will include the Country Inn, Gat Creek, Reed\u2019s Pharmacy, the Morgan County Government, McDonald\u2019s, Food Lion, CNB Bank.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWhat we have learned is that even though lots of politicos talk about jobs, jobs, jobs, the reality is that lots of employers who have those jobs can\u2019t find people to fill them,\u201d Mozier said. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIs that because the population is not large enough or because the population isn\u2019t sober enough?\u201d Mario asked.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThis is not just a Morgan County phenomenon,\u201d Mozier said. \u201cThe issues are \u2013 not having the technical capacity for the job, not having the desire to work, and then you are right \u2013 not being able to pass a drug test.&#8221; <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;As a result, there are a lot of jobs out there that simply are not being filled. We want to bring together the job seekers and the people with the jobs to hopefully employ more people locally.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cOver here on this side of the mountain, the economy appears to be pretty strong in Berkeley and Jefferson County. How is it doing in Morgan County?\u201d Welch asked.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-3199\" src=\"https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/job-fair-212x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"212\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/job-fair-212x300.jpg 212w, https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/job-fair.jpg 679w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 212px) 100vw, 212px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI think it\u2019s doing great,\u201d Mozier said. \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/business\/economy\/he-retooled-a-struggling-furniture-factory-into-a-lean-machine\/2018\/01\/12\/ccc542f6-f573-11e7-b34a-b85626af34ef_story.html?utm_term=.449b17b5b8d4\">Gat Creek is getting great publicity.<\/a> Coolfont is going to be opening sometime in the spring. They are going to break ground for the expansion of Cacapon State Park sometime in the spring. We have a couple of new restaurants opening up. And we had no trouble getting thirty employers who wanted to come and look at job seekers. That\u2019s a great sign.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cHow is the new Coolfont going to look \u2013 like the old one?\u201d Welch asked.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cProbably a little different,\u201d Mozier said. \u201cOne of the exciting things is that the Berkeley Springs Brewing Company has already moved out to Coolfont. They are going to have their brewery and their brew pub right where the laundry building used to be. The lodge, which was right across the street from the main Treetop House \u2013 that\u2019s all done and ready for people to come and stay. And they are working on the Treetop House and they are working on the spa. They are looking to add more camping. It\u2019s going to be a surprise for all of us.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the proposed 522 bypass, Mozier says she\u2019s still opposed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI still oppose the bypass,\u201d Mozier said. \u201cI\u2019ve been opposed for the last twenty some years. And nothing changes my mind. The bypass would be a death knell for the town.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI was in Winchester yesterday, sitting at one of those weird intersections they have down there. And I thought \u2013 people complain about traffic in Berkeley Springs? Look at what we have to do in Winchester. There are better ways to use the money in this state.
