{"id":227,"date":"2012-06-09T11:07:03","date_gmt":"2012-06-09T15:07:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/?p=227"},"modified":"2012-06-09T11:07:03","modified_gmt":"2012-06-09T15:07:03","slug":"the-capito-chair-in-debate-dodging-unveiled-in-berkeley-springs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/?p=227","title":{"rendered":"The Capito Chair in Debate Dodging Unveiled in Berkeley Springs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Call it the Capito Chair in Debate Dodging.<\/p>\n<p>The chair is named after Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito (R-West Virginia).<\/p>\n<p>Capito was invited last month to participate in a series of debates with her opponent \u2013Howard Swint of Charleston.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/capito.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-228\" title=\"SAMSUNG\" src=\"https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/capito-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Capito has yet to answer the call.<\/p>\n<p>The first debate will take place Monday June 11 at 6 pm at the Earth Dog Caf\u00e9 in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia.<\/p>\n<p>Swint has agreed to attend.<\/p>\n<p>The debates are being sponsored by Morgan County USA, a citizens group based in Berkeley Springs.<\/p>\n<p>The chair is a blue seven swindle Windsor side chair donated by an anonymous citizen who said she \u201cbelieves in democracy with a small d.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The chair will be mvoed around the Second Congressional District until Capito agrees to debate her opponent.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDebates are good for democracy,\u201d said Morgan County USA\u2019s Russell Mokhiber. \u201cIt\u2019s a nice chair.
