{"id":2199,"date":"2016-03-16T18:37:03","date_gmt":"2016-03-16T22:37:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/?p=2199"},"modified":"2016-03-16T18:37:03","modified_gmt":"2016-03-16T22:37:03","slug":"jim-mccoy-on-patsy-cline-and-her-first-time-on-the-radio","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/?p=2199","title":{"rendered":"Jim McCoy on Patsy Cline and Her First Time on the Radio"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jim McCoy is the owner of the Troubadour Restaurant and Lounge in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/berkeleyspringscommunitymatters.com\/2016\/03\/05\/this-week-in-morgan-county-jim-mccoy\/?embed\" width=\"620\" height=\"349\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" style=\"border:none; overflow:hidden;\" webkitallowfullScreen mozallowfullscreen allowFullScreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Troubadour was named after McCoy\u2019s friend, the Texas Troubadour &#8212; the late great Ernest Tubb. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">McCoy started his career in music in the 1950s where he hosted a half hour country music radio show every Saturday on WINC in Winchester, Virginia.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cPatsy Cline lived in Winchester, not too far from the radio station,\u201d McCoy told This Week in Morgan County with Russell Mokhiber. \u201cWe were using one microphone. Patsy was 14 years old. She comes into the radio station. I didn\u2019t talk her that day. But the next Saturday she was there. And she said &#8212; I want to sing. I don\u2019t want no money. I just want to sing. We hadn\u2019t rehearsed. I said &#8212; well, we need to rehearse. When I heard her sing, I will never forget it. I knew she was going to be a big one. She was a great singer at 14.
