{"id":2021,"date":"2015-10-27T09:51:06","date_gmt":"2015-10-27T13:51:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/?p=2021"},"modified":"2015-10-27T10:04:03","modified_gmt":"2015-10-27T14:04:03","slug":"berkeley-springs-students-author-book-about-mountaintop-removal-mining","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/?p=2021","title":{"rendered":"Berkeley Springs Students Author Book About Mountaintop Removal Mining"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 2010, group of children at Wind Dance Farm in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia began investigating the practice of mountaintop removal mining in the state.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/annie.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2025\" src=\"https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/annie.jpg\" alt=\"annie\" width=\"258\" height=\"195\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe just couldn\u2019t find very much on the subject aimed at children,\u201d said Leslie Milbourne, founder and educator at Wind Dance, \u201cSo the children decided to write something themselves.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The result &#8212;<em> Saving Annie\u2019s Mountain<\/em> by Lillie Gill-Newton, Maryam Keeley, Nicholas Mokhiber, and Samantha Stewart.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The book was published by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.coldrunbooks.com\/\">Cold Run Books.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What the authors found out was that mining companies were still blowing the tops off mountains.
