{"id":1882,"date":"2015-06-23T13:44:06","date_gmt":"2015-06-23T17:44:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/?p=1882"},"modified":"2015-06-23T13:44:06","modified_gmt":"2015-06-23T17:44:06","slug":"musicians-come-together-to-stop-fracking-with-new-album","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/?p=1882","title":{"rendered":"Musicians Come Together to Stop Fracking With New Album"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\">Bonnie Raitt, Indigo Girls, Natalie Merchant, Thom Chacon and other musicians are banding together to fight fracking with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pledgemusic.com\/projects\/buythisfrackingalbum\">\u201cBuy This Fracking Album.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/buythis.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1886\" title=\"buythis\" src=\"https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/buythis.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"388\" height=\"391\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The album, released today, is a 24-track, two-disc benefit compilation that will benefit Marcellus Protest, a non profit organization in Pennsylvania and other grassroots organizations around the country working to ban fracking.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Food &amp; Water Watch, which is also an album beneficiary, is donating its share of the proceeds back into a fund that album producers will distribute to grassroots organizations.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cWe\u2019re excited to partner with these artists who are donating their talents to help communities fight fracking,\u201d said Wenonah Hauter, Executive Director of Food &amp; Water Watch. \u201cOver 400 communities across the country have passed measures to stop fracking. These local efforts are helping to grow a national movement to stop extreme energy extraction.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cBuy This Fracking Album\u201d contains a combination of original recordings, previous releases, and live renditions of older songs.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The compilation includes Pete Seeger&#8217;s first album appearance since his passing &#8212; a never before released live rendition of Woody Guthrie&#8217;s classic \u201cThis Land Is Your Land.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The producer of the album, Jason Samel, also produced Occupy This Album, which benefitted the Occupy Movement.
