{"id":1618,"date":"2015-02-10T13:05:10","date_gmt":"2015-02-10T18:05:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/?p=1618"},"modified":"2015-02-10T13:05:10","modified_gmt":"2015-02-10T18:05:10","slug":"procter-gamble-to-build-500-million-facility-in-berkeley-county","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/?p=1618","title":{"rendered":"Procter &#038; Gamble to Build $500 Million Facility in Berkeley County, West Virginia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\">Procter &amp; Gamble will build a multi-category manufacturing facility in Berkeley County, West Virginia, near the town of Tabler Station.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The plant will open in 2017.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/pg1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-1621\" title=\"pg\" src=\"https:\/\/morgancountyusa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/pg1-1024x592.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"370\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The company said that the more than one million square-foot facility represents a capital investment of approximately $500 million and will produce multiple P&amp;G brands when it is fully operational.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Currently, P&amp;G\u2019s U. S. operations include 29 plants in 21 states.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">This will be P&amp;G\u2019s first plant in West Virginia and only its second new site in the U. S. since 1971.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The new, multi-category manufacturing plant is part of a redesign of P&amp;G\u2019s North American supply network.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cThis new plant will leverage economies of scale and standardized manufacturing platforms to P&amp;G\u2019s advantage by allowing us to produce multiple brands at one strategic location,\u201d said Yannis Skoufalos, P&amp;G\u2019s Global Product Supply Officer.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia also positions P&amp;G to utilize its new distribution center network, which includes large facilities in Georgia, Ohio and Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cThis will enable us to rapidly and efficiently serve retail customers and consumers throughout the eastern half of the United States, reaching 80% of them within one-day transit,\u201d Skoufalos said.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cThis is a significant investment by Procter &amp; Gamble and a huge win for the state of West Virginia,\u201d said Governor Earl Ray Tomblin. \u201cAs the world\u2019s leading consumer-goods manufacturer, P&amp;G is one of the most reputable companies in the world and is a superb employer. In the initial phase, the facility will create over 1,000 construction jobs, and, when it opens, will employ approximately 700 full-time, highly skilled P&amp;G workers. We are excited to welcome Procter &amp; Gamble to West Virginia, and we look forward to a strong working relationship with the company for many decades to come.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cThis investment is about the future of P&amp;G\u2019s entire supply chain from sourcing raw materials to production and distribution,\u201d said Skoufalos. \u201cIt integrates our valued external business partners and contractors as well as P&amp;G employees.
